How Wagga Business Networx has helped Kurrajong Waratah...
The relationship between Kurrajong Waratah and Wagga Business Networx began in 2005 with the inaugural Santa Sprint and further developed through the groups Christmas in July in 2006.
Identifying the needs of Kurrajong Waratah's Children's Accommodation Service for children with a disability, Wagga Business Networx has already made a huge difference in the children's lives.
Children between the age of 8 and 18 years live in Kurrajong Waratah's group homes either on a permanent or semi permanent basis or for regular or casual periods of respite care.
The children have a range of disabilities, many with Autism, Down's
syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other genetic or chromosome abnormalities
which have a major impact on the child's life.
Wagga Business Networx are now well underway working towards their latest
project which is to provide a covered play area for a group home which is
used for permanent and respite care accommodation for children with a
disability.
They have already purchased outdoor equipment which will be operational once the covered area is completed.
Wagga Business NetworX also made a dream come true for the children and their families by providing them with a holiday to the coast in 2006.
Waking every morning to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach, taking long walks with sand wriggling between their toes, collecting shells, swimming and playing cricket in their beach front yard, all for the first time.
In fact the children didn't want to come home.
It was the members of the Wagga Business Networx and the people who supported their Santa Sprint and Christmas in July, who made this possible.
We know that the children will have lasting memories and that their families have had the opportunity to recharge their batteries, knowing that their children were having a wonderful time in the care of familiar Kurrajong Waratah staff.
Thank you again for all your assistance Wagga Business NetworX.
